In response to abuse and horrific burns inflicted upon Maryam and her sister as victims of gender-based violence in Afghanistan, Team Themis quickly intervened. Maryam and her sister were provided with shelter, food, and comprehensive emergency medical care, as well as continued support throughout their recovery journey. Team Themis remained a steadfast presence in their lives until they were successfully resettled in Europe. Today, these two sisters are in the process of rebuilding their lives and eagerly await the moment when they can reunite with their mother.
